On March 29th, Hubei Public Resources Trading Center released the "Tender Notice for Supervision of JGGTDSJL Section of the Safety Standard Demonstration Line Construction Project for Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway". The main work of this project is to upgrade the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway to meet the design speed of 350 km/h.
The design speed of the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway is 350 km/h, but its current operating speed is 300 km/h. This renovation signifies an increase in speed for the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway.
According to previous reports by China Railway:
"On February 7th, the first working day after the Spring Festival holiday, Lu Dongfu, Chairman and Secretary of the Party Committee of China Railway Corporation, traveled from Beijing to Wuhan, personally inspecting the construction of the safety standard demonstration line and Spring Festival transportation work throughout the journey."
This safety standard demonstration line construction is also one of the preparatory infrastructure works for restoring the operating speed of the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway to 350 km/h.
In 2009, the Wuhan-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway opened for operation at a speed of 350 km/h. Following the unified deployment of China Railway, the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway initiated the construction of the safety standard demonstration line in 2022, involving a communication and information renovation project for a speed of 350 km/h, with a required construction period of three months.
Currently, the construction of the safety standard demonstration line within the jurisdictions of Beijing Railway Bureau and Zhengzhou Railway Bureau along the Beijing-Wuhan section has been initiated. The latest news from Zhengzhou Railway Bureau Group Company: As of March 21st, a total of 426 kilometers of line fine-tuning, 25 sets of turnout fine-tuning, 6,450 compensation capacitors for electrical equipment overhaul, and the replacement of over 10,000 contact line droppers and 297 special positioners have been completed.
The latest news from Beijing Railway Bureau Group Company: The company regards the construction of the safety standard demonstration line for the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway as a crucial driver for promoting high-quality development. It has scientifically formulated plans and set clear goals. The construction tasks are divided into two phases: the first phase, from March to April this year, focuses on achieving the full-speed target; the second phase, from May to September this year, aims at quality improvement and excellence.
The Beijing-Wuhan section of the Beijing-Guangzhou High-Speed Railway has been officially operational since 2012 and has been safely operated for nine years. Currently, it operates at a speed of 300 km/h, with the fastest train journey time being 252 minutes (4 hours and 12 minutes). After the speed increase, the total journey time from Beijing to Wuhan can be shortened by approximately 25 minutes.
